Taking advantage of Hélène Morbu’s visit to conduct a workshop at Peter Fink’s in Épendes, Design Fribourg is organizing an evening of ceramic conferences, inviting ceramicists Valérie Alonso and Hélène Morbu to present their work. The two conferences will be followed by an open discussion between the speakers and the audience, followed by a friendly cocktail.
Based in Nantes, Hélène Morbu tirelessly questions the material and reinvents traditional know-how with her own tools and techniques: she sculpts, decorates, and geometrizes clay according to a personal language. Valérie Alonso’s work is inspired by maps, geographical locations, and their inhabitants, the typography of the territory in relation to human intervention. She reinterprets the trace of men in the landscape. Valérie Alonso is a ceramist and teacher at the Higher School of Applied Arts in Vevey
