Intensive throwing week

This course is for people who would like to learn, or progress and perfect, the technique of potter’s wheel throwing.

This age-old technique is unique in shaping malleable material. As fascinating as it is difficult, it requires valuable basic knowledge that is often overlooked if you are to progress more easily, but repeated practice is essential if you are to master it.

• Mastering clay preparation
• Focus effectively on the potter’s wheel
• Manufacturing exercises, from basic shapes to more complex pieces

Each participant has a personal wheel at their disposal during the course.

Duration: around 40 hours, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 12.00pm, precise work programme and individual supervision, in the afternoon the workshop is free for personal work on the wheel until 6.00pm, and if desired a glazing session to be defined individually.
Cost: CHF 780
Materials and firing: throwing clay included, pieces fired according to current price per kilo
Participants: minimum 5-8
Accommodation: As an option, we have several bright but simple single and double rooms with shared bathroom facilities.
